Travelling Solo in Bali? Here's Why Bloomfield Should Be Your Base

Solo Travel Bali

Solo travel in Bali is one of the most rewarding things you can do. But choosing where to stay makes all the difference between a trip that feels liberating and one that feels lonely, unsafe, or just a little bit flat. Bloomfield Bali has been welcoming solo travellers since we opened in November 2017, and over nearly nine years we’ve got pretty good at knowing what you actually need.

Here’s what that looks like in practice.

A Place You Can Actually Trust

Nearly nine years is a long time in Bali hospitality. Since we opened in 2017, we’ve built a team who know this property, this neighbourhood, and this island inside out.
Our front desk runs during the day so there’s always someone to answer a question, sort a problem, or point you in the right direction. After hours, our security team takes over so you can sleep soundly and explore freely knowing the property is looked after around the clock.

We’re not a big anonymous resort. We’re a small, intimate adults-only (14+) boutique hotel where the team genuinely gets to know you.
That makes a real difference when you’re travelling alone, particularly if you’re a woman travelling solo.

The Perfect Bali Base

Location matters enormously when you’re solo, and Umalas is one of the most underrated neighbourhoods in Bali. You’re minutes from Canggu’s surf beaches, cafes, and nightlife, and equally close to Seminyak’s restaurants, shopping, and sunsets. But unlike staying right in either of those areas, Umalas gives you quiet. Rice fields, birdsong, and the kind of slow morning that reminds you why you came to Bali in the first place.

Secure parking is available if you hire a scooter or car, and we’re happy to help you organise both.

Work, Rest, and Everything in Between

More and more solo travellers are digital nomads or remote workers squeezing a few extra days out of a work trip. Bloomfield has you covered. Most of our rooms come with a dedicated desk, and our recently renovated spacious air-conditioned communal lounge is a proper working space with reliable wifi and a relaxed atmosphere that makes back-to-back calls a lot more bearable than a hot co-working space.

When the laptop closes, two pools are waiting. Swim laps, float, or just claim a day bed with a book and a cold drink from the bar. You’ve earned it.

Wellness on Your Own Terms

One of the great luxuries of solo travel is doing exactly what you want, when you want it. At Bloomfield that might mean a traditional Balinese massage in the privacy of your own room, or a treatment in our beautiful open-air massage bale. Our spa menu covers everything from hot stone and reflexology to aromatherapy and full body scrubs, and our team will happily work around your schedule.

When you’re ready to move your body, we offer yoga and Pilates classes on the property with a minimum of 5 guests, a lovely way to connect with other travellers and start a Bali morning properly. If we do not have 5 in the class you are welcome to join in at one of Bali’s best pilates and yoga studios, Anatomy, which is just down the road from the hotel. They also offer special discounts for our guests.

Community When You Want It

Solo doesn’t have to mean solitary. When we have 5 or more solo traveller guests staying with us, we love to host a communal Friday dinner, a long table meal where guests can share stories, swap recommendations, and connect over a good meal. It’s become one of those unexpected highlights that guests talk about long after they leave. Please book this prior to arrival.

Beyond that, our team is always on hand to help connect guests who might want to explore together, whether that’s finding a surf buddy, someone to share a taxi to Seminyak, or just a friendly face at breakfast.

Bali at Your Own Pace

The biggest anxiety for many solo travellers is logistics. Getting around, finding good places to eat, not wasting half a day figuring things out. Our team has been navigating Bali for nearly a decade and we genuinely love sharing that knowledge.

We’re happy to help organise tours and day trips, recommend the best warung for a cheap and cheerful lunch or the right beach club for a sunset cocktail, and point you toward everything this corner of Bali has to offer. Just ask at the front desk or message us on WhatsApp before you even arrive.

Our Tried and Tested Partnerships

One of the real perks of staying at Bloomfield is access to our curated network of partner businesses across Bali, all personally tried and tested by our owner. From dining and spa to shopping and beyond, our guests enjoy exclusive discounts and perks at some of the best places on the island. Ask our team at check-in for the full list and how to make the most of them during your stay.

Recently Renovated and Ready for You

Every room and public area at Bloomfield has recently been renovated, so what you see in the photos is exactly what you get. Our rooms range from comfortable Standard Rooms right through to the Pool Suites with their four-poster beds, double showers, freestanding baths, and private terraces. Every room has air conditioning, an ensuite bathroom, and a bar fridge. All of them are designed to feel like a proper retreat, not just somewhere to sleep.

Staying for a week or more? Ask us about our special food and beverage discounts available for longer stays, our team will sort you out.

Nearly Nine Years of Getting It Right

Bloomfield Bali opened in November 2017 as a place where guests could slow down, feel genuinely looked after, and experience Bali at its best. Nearly nine years later that hasn’t changed. What has changed is that we’ve got better at it, a more experienced team, a beautifully renovated property, and a community of returning guests who come back year after year.

If you’re thinking about a solo trip to Bali, we’d love to be your base. Message us on WhatsApp with any questions before you book, we’re always happy to chat.
